SAN JOSE-PATROCINIO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

  • a medium category public elementary school located in the District of San Narciso, Province of Zambales under the jurisdiction of the Schools Division of Zambales and has been in operations since late 1940’s as a public school with a total land area of 14, 721 sq.m. more or less. It has maintained its Level 2 School Based Management (SBM) status during the validation held July 25, 2022.

    The San Jose-Patrocinio Elementary School had its simple beginnings. It started from an improvised bamboo and cogon structure. In the 1950’s a Laguna Type building was constructed. Followed by the construction of  a multi-purpose building  by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes  through the initiative of Ex-Governor Manuel Barreto. Subsequently, the Home Economics building and Lunch Counter were constructed through the efforts of the School Parent-Teachers Association (PTA). The school clinic was also erected in 1977 with the help of Col. & Mrs. Isabelo Santos Sr and family.

The office of the school was constructed 1985.

Yearly, additional improvements are made under the leadership of the different school heads assigned to the school.

Several awards were received by the school. SJPES was awarded First Place by the Provincial Evaluation on Physical Development Committee and qualified as Regional Model School in 1980. Awarded with a medal and a Certificate in recognition of the school’s accomplishment in administrative and ancillary services, SY 1983-1984. First place in Science and Herbal Garden Contest in the  district as well as in the division level. This took place for 2 consecutive school years, 1984-1985 and 1985-1986.

In 1991, Mt Pinatubo erupted causing almost all the buildings collapsed. It took almost a year to replace the collapsed buildings.

The following SY 1992-1993, the infrastructure of the school was completed including water system and electrification. During this year, numerous awards were garnered by the school. SJPES was selected as the Most Effective Public Elementary School in the Division of Zambales. Likewise, it ranked top 3 in all aspects of the development. It garnered First Place in the district  result re: National Elementary Achievement Test.

A new two-storey building (DepEd Resilient Building) with six classrooms and five comfort rooms – two CR for males, two CR for females and one CR for PWDs – was constructed SY 2016-2017 by the Department of Public Works and Highways. This was funded by the Department of education.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought extraordinary challenges to the school system. No Closing Program and Graduation Exercises was conducted March 2020. A  Following he instruction of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, no face-to-face classes were and a virtual Graduation Exercises commenced for SY 2020-2021. To ensure that education will continue, the school adopted the Printed Modular Distance Learning Modality. The learning resources used were the Self-Learning Modules (SLMs) and Learning Activity Sheets (LAS). Parents and guardians are the only persons allowed to enter the school to receive and bring back the SLMs  and LAS. Face-to-face Graduation Ceremony was held SY 2021-2022.

Several repairs were made SY 2022-2023. The roofings of the school clinic was replaced through the Local School Board fund amounting to Php 50,000.00. The canteen  sink was repaired and installed with tiles and additional portion for cooking was constructed. The improvement of the Math Garden and the concretization of the Triage sidings. The  installation of electric alarm bell per building was materialized. This is for use in fire, security, and other signaling systems.

The school lot is acquired through purchase and donations. As per record, the Parents-Teachers Association of Barrio Patrocinio Elementary School represented by its President, Segundo Dichoso entered into a contract of Donation with the Municipal Government of San Narciso, represented by its then Mayor, Sebastian Fogata, donating the seven (7) parcels of land or the aggregate area of six throusand seven hundred twenty-two square meters (6,722 sq.m.), more or less as the school site of Patrocinio Elementary School to the said municipality. Updates for the status and issues of the lot are being coordinated by SDO Zambales. The school and SDO Zambales are working together  by coordinating with the concern individuals and agencies to secure appropriate documents for the said lot. The school is looking forward that all needed documents be secured and that the issuance of title in favor of San Jose-Patrocinio Elementary school be granted.
